The Łódź University’s comprehensive secondary school named after the “Righteous Among the Nations”

“The Righteous prove that there is no crime or hatred that cannot be countered with love.  We want to show our young people the values of the Righteous”, said Rector of the Łódź University, Nykiel Włodzimierz, on 21st November 2011.  The Łódź University’s comprehensive secondary school has been named after the “Righteous Among the Nations”.

Among those who attended the celebrations on ul.Pomorska were the Israeli Ambassador Zvi Rav-Ner,  Righteous Anna Bando-Stupnicka and Ryszard Ciszewski and Holocaust survivor Irena Scrag.  Together, they unveiled the plaque containing the name of the school.

This is the second schoolin Poland to be named school after the Righteous Among the Nations. The first was the junior high school in Czerwionce Leszczynach (Dolnyśląsk Province).

The naming of this secondary school came at the initiative of the school’s teachers and students during the commemoration of the 65th anniversary of the liquidation of the Łódź ghetto.
