Jan Karski Boulevard Opened in Warsaw
Jan Karski Boulevard is the first of the rebuilt wharves along Warsaw's Wisła RIver. A kilometre stretch will feature a new recreational area, a cycle path and boat mooring spaces. The Boulevard's opening celebrations included free cruises along the Wisła, stage shows and old-style dancing.
From next Sunday, Warsaw residents will be able to traverse the first section of the modernised boulevard on the Wisła. We wanted to return the promenade to its magnificence. The Boulevard lies on the left bank of the river and is another place for people to spend their time by the river. It adds to the rich offering of Wisła beaches and the nature path which lies on the Praga side of the river. I hope that the people of Warsaw will willingly take advantage of this place, said Mayor of Warsaw, Hanna Gronkiewicz-Waltz.
Thge naming of the boulevard was decided by Warsaw City Council in 2012. The decision was the result of efforts by the Jan Karski Association, over many years, to have the legendary courier honoured in Warsaw.
