Promotion of the book„I will give them an everlasting name”
This publication is a tribute both to Jews and Poles from the surroundings of Treblinka. It is an effect of research that lasted about a dozen years, conducted by Dr. Edwarda Kopówka, director of the Museum of Struggle and Martyrdom in Treblinka, and Rev. Paweł Rytel-Andrianik, student of Biblical Studies and Jewish Studies at the Oxford University.
The first chapter of the book focuses on the history of the town of Treblinka from its founding until the 20th century. The next two chapters are devoted to the Penal Labor Camp Treblinka I and to the Extermination Camp Treblinka II.
The next parts present the people murdered for rescuing Jews. The fifth chapter contains information about people from the surroundings of Treblinka who were honored with the title „Righteous Among the Nations”, and the next one presents the ways in which the help was provided to Jews during the Nazi occupation. In the end are presented testimonies of witnesses: the rescued Jews, the former prisoners of Treblinka I and the inhabitants of the surroundings of the town.
The publication „I will give them an everlasting name (Isaiah 56:5). Poles rescuing Jews from the surroundings of Treblinka” includes hundreds of testimonies, photos and accounts devoted to Poles who rescued Jews from the districts: Bialski, Bielski, Brański, Garwoliński, Łomżyński, Łosicki, Łukowski, Miński, Ostrowski, Parczewski, Radzyński, Siedlecki, Siemiatycki, Sokołowski, Węgrowski, Wysokomazowiecki.
The authors wrote at the end of the book: “We believe that this monograph of Treblinka and of its surroundings will broaden the knowledge about this area and act as a tribute to the Martyrs and Heroes who risked their lives to save Jews, often paying the ultimate price for their deeds”.
The publication is available as PDF file on the websites www.treblinka-muzeum.eu and www.drohiczynska.pl.
