TRAINING FOR EDUCATORS: “WALKS AROUND JEWISH WARSAW”
The educators of the Museum come from various environments. Among them are architects, guides organizing tours around Warsaw, journalists, artists, historians, philosophers, specialists in Polish studies, graduates of Jewish studies and cyclists. At a certain point they hit upon the idea to create an interactive walk for tourists, organized by the Museum of the History of Polish Jews and presenting them the Jewish monuments of Warsaw.
The walk we are planning to promote is a form of exchange of knowledge and experience of the members of the group. The guide of the group is not only a person telling stories and showing places – he is also an initiator of discussions and dialogue. The walk will also become an occasion to learn more about the city and its history, but also about ourselves, about how we see the world when someone shows it to us from their own perspective.
An important part of this meeting was the creation of a scenario of such a walk – a proposal of a route that will turn out to be interesting both to educators, teachers and tourists. The descriptions of the walks will be published on the website of the Museum of the History of Polish Jews. Everyone will be able to print them and use these scenarios by themselves.
The walks will be devoted to such subjects as: Warsaw artists in the Second Polish Republic, women of the Muranów district, Warsaw Righteous Among the Nations, postwar urban planning utopian ideas for Jewish streets in Warsaw, Jewish cemeteries, old Warsaw’s criminal underworld and Warsaw ZOO.
The plan of the training was prepared by Jagna Kofta who also conducted this event.
