The Raoul Wallenberg Foundation will pay tribute to Armenians who helped Jews during the war

Eduardo Eurnekian, an Argentine businessman of Armenian origin, together with the International Raoul Wallenberg Foundation, will pay tribute to the Armenians who helped Jews during the Second World War.

This initiative will lead to the creation of a monument in Buenos Aires – where about 130 thousand descendants of Armenians live today – commemorating the Armenians who saved Jews and others persecuted by the Nazis during the war.

So far, 14 Armenians have been recognized with the title “Righteous Among the Nations” by the Yad Vashem Institute in Jerusalem.

As Baruch Tenenbaum, the founder of the Wallenberg Foundation explains: “The study of Armenian history requires educating children so that the Armenian martyrdom never is forgotten. We are committed to the study and investigation of these tragic events and to the promotion of the results”.

The Raoul Wallenberg Foundation will also start a new educational program devoted to the promotion of the Armenian culture and of the heritage of Armenian heroes of the Second World War.
