This event is part of the cycle of meetings organized by the project “Polish Righteous – Recalling Forgotten History” of the Museum of the History of Polish Jews. All the meetings are devoted to the subject of rescuing Jews from the Holocaust.
The plot of Feliks Falk’s newest film “Joanna” is located in Kraków during the Second World War. Joanna (played by Urszula Grabowska) meets a little Jewish girl (Sara Knothe) in the church. She decides to help her.
This is when the dramatic story of hiding begins. Joanna is soon denounced. During the search, a Nazi officer discovers her secret. He is willing to keep it under one condition. The heroine is forced to collaborate with the invader…
At the 35th Feature Film Festival in Gdynia Feliks Falk received for “Joanna” the individual award for direction and the award for the best screenplay. The film will be released in Polish cinemas since November 26th, 2010.
