Tickets available for Tomasz Stańko Special Project
After years of efforts half of building of the Museum of the History of Polish Jews is ready! It has reached its final height and was roofed. The halfway point is a perfect moment for our joy and joint celebrations!
We owe the fact that the construction of the Museum is proceeding without disruption to unusual people – employees, sponsors, partners and collaborators of the Museum, authorities of Warsaw and of Poland.
We would like to thank everyone and to invite you to the concert Tomasz Stańko Special Project, which will be held on December 8th, 2010 at 7:30 pm at the Warsaw Philharmonic.
The tickets can already be bought in the ticket offices of the Philharmonic, which are open from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm and from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm (Monday-Saturday) and on the day of the concert. The tickets cost 100 and 120 zlotys.
It is already the second concert from the series “Music for a Beautiful World”. Last year at the Grand Theatre in Warsaw performed the great American violinist Joshua Bell. This year the Museum has invited one of the most outstanding modern trumpet players: Tomasz Stańko, member of the Polish Support Committee of the Museum of the History of Polish Jews.
The title of the concerts, Music for a Beautiful World, refers to one of the fundamental terms in Judaism – tikkun olam, repairing the world. This notion was popularized by the 16th century Jewish mystic Isaac Luria.
The world is not perfect, that is why we need to try to improve it in any way we can, through education, art, philanthropy and the joint founding of the Museum. This will allow us to create a better world for all of us.
The concert is an accomplishment of the project for a few keyboard instruments that Stańko has been planning for a long time. That is why he has invited musicians with whom he had already worked before. The young pianist Dominik Wania will play the piano and the Fender Rhodes.
Craig Taborn, American maestro of keyboard instruments, will play the second Fender Rhodes and Rolanad organs. Sławomir Kurkiewicz – the double bass and Joey Baron, one of the most highly regarded drummers in modern jazz, will play percussion.
