In the debate will participate the director of the film Feliks Falk, Tadeusz Sobolewski (film critic, “Gazeta Wyborcza”) and Dr. Bartosz Kwieciński (Centre for Holocaust Studies, Jagiellonian University). It will be moderated by Dr. Małgorzata Pakier from the Museum of the History of Polish Jews.

The film’s plot is located in Kraków during the Second World War. Joanna (played by Urszula Grabowska) meets a little Jewish girl (Sara Knothe) in the church. She decides to help her.

This is when the dramatic story of hiding begins. Joanna is soon denounced. During the search, a Nazi officer discovers her secret. He is willing to keep it under one condition. The heroine is forced to collaborate with the invader…

At the 35th Feature Film Festival in Gdynia Feliks Falk received for “Joanna” the individual award for direction and the award for the best screenplay.
