“A Museum of Life”

Maria Zawadzka, 16 November 2016
The film “A Museum of Life” is available on the website of the Museum of the History of Polish Jews.

The film directed by Kacper Lisowski presents the process of the construction of the Museum, its current activity and the plans concerning its future form and functioning.

It also presents the educational programs of the Museum and its two main Internet projects: “Polish Righteous – Recalling Forgotten History” and the “Virtual Shtetl”.

In “A Museum of Life” we can listen to Władysław Bartoszewski – Member of the Polish Committee for the Support of the Museum of the History of Polish Jews – and Marian Turski, chairman of the Museum Council.

The Museum of the History of Polish Jews is also presented by Prof. Barbara Kirshenblatt-Gimblett, head of the Team for the Core Exhibition Planning Team, the director Jerzy Halbersztadt and the Finnish architect, author of the project of the building of the Museum, Prof. Rainer Mahlamäki.

In the film we will see the present shape of the building, find out about the exhibitions, performances, festivals and workshops this institution has organized and about the ways in which its creators search for a new language, enabling them to engage people in a dialogue.

We will learn how the Museum tries to tell the history and culture of Polish Jews and show the audience how this history became part of the history of Poland.
