Two Righteous Medals Added to POLIN Museum's Collection

Mateusz Szczepaniak, 16 November 2016
Sławomir Szklarek has presented the POLIN Museum with the Righteous Among the Nations medals and certificates of his mother Danuta Szklarek and his grandmother Olga Jagiełowicz.

Olga Jagiełowicz, her daughter Danuta Szklarek and her young son, lived in Legionów, during the War, at ulica Cegielnia 9. From October 1942 until the War's end, they hid a Jewish family in their home - the Zawiesiński family, comprising Józef, his wife Ester, his mother Sara, and his sisters Chawa and Ignes. For their selfless aid and for risking their own lives, Olga Jagiełowicz and her daughter Danutą Szklarek were honoured with the title of Righteous Among the Nations in 1984.

Their full story is available HERE on our website.

We sincerely thank Mr Sławomir Szklark for presenting the POLIN Museum of the History of Polish Jews with the Righteous Among the Nations medals and certificates awarded to his mother and to his grandmother.
