European premiere of
On August 31st, 2009 in Gdańsk a screening of "The Courageous Heart of Irena Sendler" by John Kent Harrison has opened official celebrations of the 70th anniversary of the outbreak of the Second World War. It was a European premiere of the movie about the Righteous Among the Nations, Irena Sendler. This heroic woman saved about 2,5 thousand Jewish children from the Warsaw ghetto.

President of the Republic of Poland Lech Kaczyński was present at the screening. The film brew was represented among others by the Oscar winner Anna Paquin (Irena Sendler), the director John Kent Harrison, Polish actresses who starred in the movie Danuta Stenka and Maja Ostaszewska and music author, Oscar winner Jan A. P. Kaczmarek.
