November 11th: „Fascism shall not pass”
They also raised their hands in Nazi greeting. The city authorities gave the nationalists an official permission to organize the demonstration and all investigations against them were dismissed by the prosecutor’s office.
This year, on November 11th, the “Independence March” of the All-Polish Youth and the National Radical Camp will be countered by the anti-fascist demonstration entitled „Fascism shall not pass”, organized by the „Agreement of November 11th”. The goal of the demonstration is to block the fascist march.
The assembly point of the anti-fascist manifestation is Krakowskie Przedmieście Street at the level of St Anna’s Church. The exact spot of the blockade will be revealed tomorrow morning, on November 11th.
During the 7 days preceding the Polish Independence Day (November 4th-11th) the “Week of Anti-Fascism” is held – an all-Poland cycle of events devoted to anti-fascism.
As part of this event were organized numerous concerts and film screenings, among others “Żydokomuna” by Anna Zawadzka and “No pasaran”, presenting the blockade of the anti-fascism march in Dresden.
On November 9th, on the anniversary of Kristallnacht (Night of Broken Glass), was celebrated the International Day of Fight with Fascism and Anti-Semitism.
Among the organizations that entered the campaign „Agreement of November 11th” are: the “Never Again” Association, the Open Republic Association, the Jewish all-Poland Youth Organization, the Campaign Against Homophobia, the Political Critique, Lambda Warsaw, the Association of Women of March 8th, the “Czulent” Jewish Association. Almost 40 social organizations, famous journalists, artists and politicians will take part in the protest.
Activists from the Agreement observe that in the last years the marches of ONR have become more and more numerous and neo-Nazi groups such as Combat 18 also participated in them.
The organizers of the anti-fascist demonstration hope that they will repeat last year’s success from Dresden, where a crowd of about 10 thousand people forced the nationalists and neo-Nazis to stop their march.
“Gazeta Wyborcza” also calls everyone to come on November 11th at 2:30 pm at the corner of Miodowa Street and Krakowskie Przedmieście Street and in front of St Anna’s Church. Whistles will be distributed, enabling the participants of the demonstration to express their opinion about members of ONR and neo-Nazis.
