Maria Zawadzka, 16 November 2016
On Tuesday, June 22th 2010 in the seat of the Museum of the History of Polish Jews at 13 Mazowiecka Street in Warsaw took place a training for the researchers who will take part in the documentary and educational project “Sprawiedliwi w polskich szkołach” (“Righteous in Polish Schools”), being part of the program "Polish Righteous - Recalling Forgotten History". 22 researchers and volunteers took part in the training.

The general guidelines of the project, the methodology of interviewing the Righteous, and preparing the recorded accounts were presented to the participants by the coordinator of the program Łucja Koch, the coordinator of the collecting of the accounts – Karolina Dzięciołowska – and the collaborator of the program Ewa Opawska. Prof. Barbara Weigl from the Warsaw School of Social Sciences and Humanities presented to the participants the specificity of the contact with the elderly and the methods of having such kind of conversation with them. Film workshops were also organized, carried out by the documentary film-maker Edyta Wróblewska. The participants of the project learnt how to form a relationship with the Righteous Among the Nations, how to talk with them and how to record their accounts on a film camera.

The project “Righteous in Polish Schools”, being part of the program "Polish Righteous - Recalling Forgotten History", will last until the end of 2010. Its main goal is to document the accounts that have not yet been recorded, but mainly to involve the Righteous from small Polish towns in the life of their local communities and in the process of educating young people. The schools will be helped to prepare meetings with the Righteous, which will constitute a part of the “Righteous Days”.

The project is subsidized by the Operational Program Civic Initiatives Fund.
