WORKSHOPS “ŻOLIBORZ – GARDEN OF THE RIGHTEOUS AMONG THE NATIONS”

Maria Zawadzka, 16 November 2016
The workshops “Żoliborz – garden of the Righteous Among the Nations” will take place on September 4th (12-14 pm). The first workshop (July 10th) already took place, it was organized as part of the celebrations of the "Days of Warsaw".

The project, carried out by the program of the Museum of the History of Polish Jews “Polish Righteous – Recalling Forgotten History”, will consist of workshops for high-school students. It will be a meeting devoted to the heroic conducts of those people, who during the Second World War decided to help the Jews. The interactive workshops are supposed to present the past to the young people in a creative way. The participants will stroll about Żoliborz, discovering this Warsaw district thanks to accounts, photos, maps, objects and places. That way a complex image of the district where so many people helped Jews will appear to them. The participants of the workshops will also try to jointly answer the question: why were so many inhabitants of Żoliborz willing to risk their own lives and the lives of their families to save others.

The workshops, conducted by Olga Linkiewicz from the Historical Institute of the Polish Academy of Sciences, were created with the cooperation of Karolina Dzięciołowska, representing the project “Polish Righteous – Recalling Forgotten History”. The participants of the workshops will set off from the subway station Pl. Wilsona (Wilson Square), the exit at the corner of Krasiński Street and Słowacki Street.

Everyone who would like to take place in the workshops “Żoliborz – garden of the Righteous Among the Nations” is asked to send their applications at the address: [email protected]
