Hungarian Righteous

On November 11th, 2010 Aliza Bin-Noun, ambassador of Israel in Budapest, together with the Minister of Internal Affairs of Hungary Sandor Pinter expressed their gratitude to 17 Hungarians and their families for rescuing Jews during the Holocaust.

The heroes of the Second World War were honored with the title “Righteous among the Nations”.

Among the distinguished were Karolina and Zsuzsanna Reszeli, mother and daughter, who rescued Steve Colman and his mother.

Steve Colman, currently living in Australia, participated in the ceremony organized at the Embassy of Israel in Budapest.

During his speech, Minister Pinter emphasized the importance of the protection of democratic values and the fight with extremist beliefs promoting exclusion.

Addressing the guests, the ambassador Bin-Noun expressed her concern with the raising number of anti-Semitic incidents all over the world. She also underlined that the responsibility for these events lays in the activities of the extreme right parties.
