The Polish Society of the Righteous Among the Nations was founded in 1985. Its members are Polish citizens who have been honored with the title and medal of Righteous Among the Nations. The goals of the society are to disseminate information about the occupation, the Holocaust and the actions of the Righteous, and to fight against anti-Semitism and xenophobia. One of the central components of their work is to meet with young people and to talk to them about the Nazi occupation and their personal roles during those years. The Shalom Foundation has been organizing the Festival of Jewish Culture "Warsaw of Singer" since 2004. The 100th anniversary of Isaac Bashevis Singer’s birthday was the reason to organize the first edition of this event. The Festival preserves the memory of prewar Jewish Warsaw. The aim of the Shalom Foundation is to reconstruct for a few days the prewar atmosphere of Próżna Street in order to present the annihilated world of the Polish Jews. Every year among the events being part of the Festival are concerts, film screenings, song and dance workshops, paper cutting, ceramics and Hebrew calligraphy. More about the Festival.
