“Repressive Measures Against Helping Jews” | A Discussion

The Institute of National Remembrance (IPN) in Warsaw invites you to a discussion around the first volume of the publication “Repressive Measures Against Helping Jews in the Occupied Polish Territories During World War II” by Dr. Aleksandra Namysło and Dr. Martyna Grądzka-Rejak, the authors of many stories of help on The Polish Righteous website. Dr. Mateusz Szpytma, Vice-President of the IPN, will also take part in the discussion, which will be chaired by Prof. Grzegorz Berendt.

This publication is partially the result of work carried out for the project entitled “An Index of Poles Murdered and Repressed for Helping Jews During World War II”.

Its aim was to ascertain the names of Polish citizens, not covered by the Nuremberg Laws, but who were living within the borders of the Republic of Poland from 31st August 1939 and who were repressed for having helped Jews during World War II. The book contains 333 notes (concerning 654 people), presenting the circumstances and types of aid, as well as the resultant repression which they encountered.

The event will take place on Thursday 16th January 2020, at 5:00 pm, at the Janusz Kurtyka Education Centre of the IPN at 21/25 Marszałkowska Street in Warsaw.
