We are looking for relatives of Anna Kaczorowska and of Anna and Piotr Madej
Professor Eleazar Shafrir, born in Cracow under the name of Lutek Spiegel, is looking for relatives of Anna Kaczorowska and Anna and Piotr Madej – the people who helped him during World War II.
During the Nazi occupation, Eleazar Shafrir lost his parents and a sister – he himself was transferred to the Płaszów concentration camp. He managed to escape from the camp with the help of three people and their families: Anna Kaczorowska, Maria Płatek and Anna and Piotr Madej. Shafrir made every effort to ensure that his rescuers were awarded the title “Righteous Among the Nations” by the Yad Vashem Institute. The professor managed to contact Maria Płatek’s grandson, who on June 26, 2011 will receive the medal that was posthumously conferred upon her.
